“Lombardia è Ricerca” Award 2025: discover the International Jury

Top scientists will now choose the winner of the €1 million recognition awarded by Regione Lombardia

Redazione Open Innovation

The composition of the 2025 International Jury for the “Lombardia è Ricerca” Award has been officially announced. This award, worth €1 million euro, is granted by Regione Lombardia to innovations and research of excellence, and the theme for this edition is “Innovative methods of early diagnosis or preventive medicine.”

The high prestige of the “Lombardia è Ricerca” International Award is reflected in the Jury: 15 top scientists, including a Nobel Prize laureate, selected in research areas related to the chosen theme. They were chosen based on the highest H Index, an indicator of a researcher’s academic impact, balancing the quantity of publications with the influence of citations, as calculated by Scopus, one of the largest academic databases.

The winner of the 2024 edition of the Award, Professor Alberto Mantovani, President of the Humanitas Research Foundation, has also been invited to join the Jury.

The Award Process: Towards “Research Day”

The applications for the “Lombardia è Ricerca” International Award closed on August 31st.

In addition to their contribution on the theme of the 2025 edition, applicants were required, for the first time, to present a translational research project to be carried out in collaboration with one or more public or private research organizations in Lombardy.

Now, the Jury will assess the applications and select the winner of the 2025 Award.

Regional Councillor Fermi: We are a Reference Point for R&I

“With the official announcement of the jury members,” comments the regional councillor for Universities, Research, and Innovation, Alessandro Fermi, “we are laying the first concrete brick for the 2025 edition of the ‘Lombard Nobel’. This is one of the most important events in my department, as it allows us to continue being a reference point for research and innovation—two essential areas for a region like ours. Once again this year, the names of the jurors are of the highest caliber, and I’m personally very pleased with Mantovani’s presence, the winner of last year’s edition.”
