Description

The goal of the project is the construction of a platform for an intelligent vehicle that serves as a basic platform for the development of a fully autonomous vehicle. ADAS systems (advanced driver assistance systems) monitor the psychological and physical state of the driver and passengers, obstacles and people on the road and make driving easier for the disabled. They also interact with other vehicles and with a control infrastructure.

The goal of an intelligent vehicle - ambitious and achievable over a period of not less than 10 years - must necessarily be supported by a series of intermediate projects, and TEINVEIN is one of these. The main objectives that the project aims to achieve are:

  1. Reduced environmental impact through the implementation of on-board vehicle mechatronic systems supporting driver commands that motivate the driver to adopt less polluting driving strategies;
  2. Increased road safety for both passengers and pedestrians through the monitoring of the psychological and physical state of the driver and the environment surrounding the vehicle, through the development of ADAS logic as well as through the communication of information from and to the infrastructure and to and from adjacent vehicles;
  3. Simplification of driving for the handicapped through the implementation of mechatronic systems that aid driver commands and through the installation of sensors that can ease driving.

To achieve these objectives, the project brings together a wide range of technologies, sensors, systems and algorithms.

Innovation

Radical

Regional Impact

The innovations can be used by the Lombard automotive industrial chains and the ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) market. The technologies being studied by the project can be used in several areas: biomedical for confocal microscopy, spectroscopy of single molecules, DNA sequencing; in industrial applications for the sizing of particles, for optical metrology of electronic circuits, of diagnostic imaging.

S3 Impact

Starting with established European standards, including Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) and Light Detection and Ranging or Laser Imaging Detection (LIDAR/LADAR), the project aims to integrate them with the paradigm of the Internet of Things (IoT).
