URGENTE: La start-up austriaca della tecnologia sanitaria cerca un coordinatore per Horizon Europe Call per una soluzione point of care. Scadenza: 10 febbraio 2023

Full description

Dettagli dalla ricerca originale:

The Austrian SME is already on the domestic market with an app specifically aimed at the caring profession. During the development phase, the start-up collaborated with professional carers and combined this knowledge with their technical expertise to create the innovation. The aim of the app is to simplify tasks and administration, so that the carer's focus can be on their patients and their needs and in this way to also improve the quality of the care given. The app comprises a number of features such as: - clear patient overview - easy patient management/adding new patients - simple documentation of cases including photo and video - central storage - PDF export of patient documentation - forum for exchange within the carer community - calendar function for carer time management - accounting function to record relevant carer expenses - route tracking for carer visits to patients - professional registration number required for community log in to ensure participation from genuine carers For this specific Horizon Europe Call, the consortium has already been assembled and has concrete plans to carry out research on pose estimation and movement analysis, which can be used, for example, for fall detection and to count a patient's toilet visits. Face recognition and emotion detection will be implemented mainly to detect pain, so that patients in pain can be treated without delay. Drain monitoring will be further researched to detect abnormalities at an earlier stage so that they can be acted upon promptly. EEG (Electroencephalography) and ECG (electrocardiography) based diagnostics will add an additional layer of data points to give a fuller picture of the patient's status to the carer. All these data points are locally processed in a hub, analysed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and made available through interfaces to electronic patient record (EPR) systems. Additionally, an interface to an electronic nursing documentation system will be integrated using the established classification system ICNP (International Classification of Nursing Practice), which already has a direct interface to the system used by doctors (SNOMED CT - Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms). Equivalences to other established nursing classifications will be researched, which will allow for seamless integration into all care environments and workflows, beginning with Europe. Variations according to different countries will be investigated so that necessary adaptations to the interface can be identified. The overall aim of all activities is to reduce the number of mundane tasks and in so doing to free up time resources for healthcare professionals. They will also be provided with care/treatment suggestions based on analysed real-time data so that more thorough decisions can be made about the well-being of the patient. Ethical concerns are an integral part of each work package and the consortium will cooperate with ethics committees to ensure that the research results can be sustainably used in practice. Clinical studies will be done to validate the research results and suitable partners in hospitals in Germany and Spain are already in the consortium. Further work packages have been identified and relevant partners have been assigned. The scope of the research can be extended provided that the resources are adequate. So far, the assembled consortium comprises nine partners consisting of universities, research institutes and private companies. The Austrian SME has to date coordinated the consortium partners and project management. However, as a start-up, they are unable to be the full coordinator for the call. Hence, a professional institution with experience in this field is sought to act as coordinator for this existing consortium. Project management assistance can be offered to the coordinator from an existing consortium partner.

Advantages/ Innovation

focus on:

  • pose estimation and movement analysis
  • face recognition and emotion detection
  • drain monitoring
  • EEG and ECG based diagnostics
  • to build a hub ecosystem for analysis with Artificial Intelligence (AI) so that:
  • carers can make more well-informed decisions regarding the care of the patients to the patients' benefit
  • carers reduce time on administrative tasks allowing more time for the activity of caring

Ruolo/ Contributo del partner cercato

A coordinator for a joint Horizon Europe call is sought, who already has experience as a coordinator in previous Horizon calls. Since the main theme is focused on health and technology, a background in those topics is beneficial. The main responsibility will be professional project management and expertise in procedures. The coordinator will be heavily supported by a professional project management team, which is also part of the consortium.
The ideal partner would be an R&D institution or university but the consortium is also open to other ideas.
The deadline for the Horizon call is 13th April 2023. The goal is to have a full consortium including a coordinator by 10th February 2023 at the latest.
