The EUR 1 million “Lombardia è Ricerca” (Lombardy is Research) international prize gets into full swing. Having closed the candidatures on the theme of the 2023 edition (“Innovative models of treatment, therapy and prevention”) of the Prize set up by the Lombardy Region, now it is the turn of the Jury made up of 15 top scientists, called upon to assess the discoveries reported by the researchers.
It will then be up to these super experts to select the prize-winning discovery, which will be presented on 8 November at La Scala Theatre in Milan during the Research Day promoted by the Lombardy Region together with the Veronesi Foundation.
The jurors will assess the 67 entries received from researchers around the world on the theme “Innovative models of treatment, therapy and prevention”.
“We have taken the first official step towards Research Day 2023. This event on 8 November - said the regional councillor for Universities, Research and Innovation, Alessandro Fermi – is a very important occasion, because we are going to present a EUR 1 million prize for relevant inventions, research and discoveries with a social impact in the field of Life Sciences. I would therefore like to thank the jury, which has met for the first time and will evaluate the numerous entries received with due attention. An excellent response for this Prize, established in memory of Umberto Veronesi”.
This year's Jury again includes researchers of international standing, selected from those with the highest H-index in the areas of study related to the Prize topic.
Here are the profiles of the 14 academics. The jurors elected Professor Marco Emilio Bianchi to chair the Jury.
