The European Commission and the European Business & Biodiversity Platform are organising the European Business & Nature Summit (EBNS) on 11-12 October 2023 with the help from co-organisers Etifor, ItaSIF, and the Lombardy Region.
The event will take place in the Palazzo Lombardia in Milan, and will gather hundreds of companies and organizations.
The aim of the Summit is to support businesses to understand the importance of tackling the global biodiversity crisis to ensure their long-term growth and profitability. In particular, it will help business and finance implement the international biodiversity ambitions agreed in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
The EBNS is a high-profile event funded by the European Commission, aimed at driving business transformations to make biodiversity part of their business models, financial strategies and daily operations. With nearly a decade of successful editions, the EBNS has evolved into a Summit receiving over 1.000 registrations from in-person and online participants. This high turnout is testimony to the growing interest in nature-positive practices within the corporate and financial sectors and underscores the usefulness of the EBNS as a guide in their journey.
Following the landmark UN biodiversity agreement reached in Montréal in December 2022, the focus of this year’s edition of the EBNS is set on aligning business and finance actions with the new global ambitions, while also working towards target specifications for the upcoming COP16 negotiations.
The 2023 EBNS keynote speakers list reads as the who’s who in nature, business and finance policy realms. The programme features high-level policy business dialogues as well as technical working sessions to help businesses turn their ambitions into action. The Summit will be accompanied by a dozen side events including masterclasses, technical workshops, presentations of results from projects, reports and studies, networking and cultural gatherings, and an inspiring exhibition.
Attendance online will be made available on the EBNS 2023 website, including livestreams of all the high-level business policy dialogues as well as the working sessions.
