"RENOVATE Battery Recycling in Lombardy: It Matters More Than You Think”

The event “Renovate Battery Recycling in Lombardy: It Matters More Than You Think” will be held at the Politecnico di Milano (aula Magna, Building 1, piazza Leonardo da Vinci 32), on 23 October 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event is part of the RENOVATE project, funded by Horizon Europe and is part of the BATTERY2030+ initiative.

This event aims to bring together existing knowledge, EU and locally funded projects, initiatives, and research on battery recycling in the Lombardy region.

It will highlight current achievements, showcase ongoing efforts, and explore what is needed to further consolidate and expand this work.

It offers an opportunity to engage with citizens, raising awareness of battery recycling and the benefits it can bring to the Region’s environment and economy.

Italmatch Chemicals has been invited to participate as a speaker. Specifically, Luigi di Rienzo, Italmatch FlashPhos’ Project Manager, will take part in the panel discussion “What exists in the region and what has been achived”.

His presentation will focus on phosphorus recovery, paying particular attention to the European FlashPhos project and highlighting the opportunities that this strategic resource offers for the circular economy, industrial innovation and environmental sustainability.

This will offer a valuable opportunity to assess the current state of the art in the region, discuss best practices in place, and explore future prospects for the recovery and reuse of materials critical to the ecological transition.
